In the first 4 years of rule by the Bush Brigade I thought the cadre Bush had assembled around him as "policy" makers and "advisors" was bad to say the least. But now his picks to head up his BushCo team of decision makers, policy setters, and "advisors" is taking on more and more of the characteristics of an out and out criminal enterprise.
There is not a cabinet post, administrative post, agency head, that has not come out of the very same corporations or lobbyist groups the agencies they now head are supposed to be watchdogs for and over. Or, that does not come out of hard core neo-con think tanks like the American Enterprise Institute. Does the "fox guarding the hen house" ring a bell?
Elliott Abrams, who was convicted of lying to congress during the Iran/Contra "investigations," was kept out of jail due solely due to a pardon given to him by George H.W. Bush in 1991. He is now the number two security advisor to the current Bush.
John Negroponte, also nailed for lying to congress during the Iran/Contra investigations, and who really worked very hard at covering up death squads, murders, assassinations, and other such "things" while the Ambassador to Honduras during "Iran/Contra." Actually, Negroponte was at the very heart of Iran/Contra and he is now slated to be the head of "Homeland Security." Oh, whoopee! I really feel secure now!
Karl Rove, never elected to any office, now the Bush deputy chief of staff, a policy making position - does anyone else see anything wrong with that picture?
Now we are informed that Bush will appoint John Bolton as the ambassador to the U.N. Instead of me going into a tirade or diatribe on and about John Bolton (a man I have pointed my finger at in many articles as an out of control hawk and neo-con) I have placed a lot of links at the end of this on enough info about Bolton to keep any interested person busy reading for awhile - and read up on him all should do!
Even other hawkish neo-cons are not all big Bolton fans. In fact, the title I put on this piece is a quote from someone who knows and works with him, "Bolton is to diplomacy what Jack the Ripper was to surgery;" and that pretty much sums up quite nicely who and what Bush is sending to the U.N.
If I still had any belief, faith or hope that there was still a government of, by and for the people to some degree in this nation, I no longer do. We are faced with a radical, revolutionary movement which has captured the "throne" of power of this nation and which is out to redefine this country in its own image. We have a governing body comprised of liars, thieves, bullies, extortionists, and self-serving greed merchants and megalomaniacs that are so full of themselves that can't see "the forest thru the trees." And that have wrapped what they are doing in the cloak of religious self-righteousness and who have as their mantra, "profits over people" as well as "perpetual war for perpetual peace."
What it is going to take to stop this madness, to get back to the attempts at creating a democracy in actual fact, I am not sure. What I am fairly sure of, is that what we have is so broken and upside down I am wondering if it can be fixed - or do we need to just start the entire great American experiment all over at the beginning? And then hopefully do it right at long last. All that said, we must still bombard the people in the U.S. Senate too not vote to approve John Bolton to this post at the U.N.
