I don't know how many of you are familiar with Cryptome. It is a site that specializes in keeping an eye on the inner workings of government and the military. Sometimes their stuff is a bit far out, but frequently they have inside stuff before anyone else does. Anyway, they have a couple of recent posts that deserve attention:
Intelligence funding for FY 2004
Congress cloaks DOJ FISA wiretap costs
I urge a look at both articles.

I read the article about the passing of funding for "intelligence" gathering in FY2004 - don't even get me started on the usage of that word - among many sentences that made me shake my head, this one stood out for me:
"The bill authorizes $8 million to the Community Management Staff to establish an ROTC like program to encourage college students to pursue careers as intelligence analysts."
....great, just what America needs, surveillance by kids fresh outta high school, most of them deliberately "under-educated" so as to reflect the current fear-factor our government is spoon-feeding the masses - Hitler youth anyone? Or the communist revolution in China? get 'em while they're young....
