Accenture. Doesn't That Name Sound Familiar?

It does if you have been reading Uncommon Thought Journal for a while. Accenture is a subsidiary of Arthur Andersen (the accountants/tax advisers for ENRON). They are a little empire unto themselves. One of their areas of experitise is electronic voting (See Worried About Voting Fraud (UTJ 7/17/03). They are the company that got the Pentagon's electronic voting for the troops contract - which was canceled because the Pentagon siad it couldn't be made secure (The Pentagon Drops Internet Voting, UTJ, 2/06/04). ANd they have been big "outsourcers" (What Jobs? What Recovery?, UTJ, 12/30/03). But none of that has kept them from winning yet another big contract - Accenture Wins $10 Billion Border Security Deal (NYT, 6/01/04).

Yes comrades, it obviously pays to engage in illegal business practices, fleece the country, and make products that don't work. On 7/15/03 Accenture admitted it "might" have violated the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act with its Middle East operations (NYT, 7/15). It is also close partners with one of our favorite corporate charities - Halliburton. Given that Accenture is such a good coporate citizen, I certainly think they deserve another $10 BILLION contract (not).

The Daily Misleader also has a nice blurb on this today - Bush Gives Contract to Tax Traitor/Campaign Donor.
