War Profits - In Brief

Printable Version | [eMail this article!] |

Well, the US may be in massive debt, and folks may be struggling, but some profits deserve to be noted:

Boeing Posts 78 Percent Higher Profit, Raises 2004 Estimate:

Aerospace giant Boeing Co. reported a 78 percent jump in third-quarter earnings, buoyed by a strong defense business, and raised its estimate for full-year profits due to a favorable tax outlook.

Yeah, that $136 Billion giveaway might brighten prospects.

While not doing quite as well as Boeing, Northrop Grumman's Third-Quarter Profit Surges 51 Percent:

Defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp.'s third-quarter earnings rose 51 percent due to strength from its mission systems, integrated systems and ships and space technology segments.

Certainly, Northrop's gain would have noting to do with the October 1st announcement they "won" the military contract to build the BMC2:

Air Force Officials awarded a contract last month estimated at $408 million to Northrop Grumman Corp. to build the Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) system.

How much incentive do you think there is to get out of Iraq and end the "war on terrorism?"

How many lives are lost in Iraq and Afghanistan every day friendly and unfriendlies? There is more of a cost to war than number of lifes and profit/loss statements. Who is counting the ruined lifestyles the difficulty of getting a job in this increasingly education unfreindly environment? And the values it is teaching our next generations. If Bush cant have what he wants, then he will destroy anything to get it. That is something I am trying to train my children out of and Bush1 encourages his kid to "party" I think the elections should focus more on the candidates family values aside from how much he wants to be like his daddy.

For the record, Jack is desperate for employment that does not force him to leave the state. If anyone knows of work somewhere he has not looked that will sufficiently provide for him and two little boys (4 1/2 and 2), feel free to send the information.

The "War on Terrorism" seems like an oxymoron now. All we are doing is creating more terrorists. How many more people need to be kidnapped and beheaded?
There is no incentive or desire it seems to leave Iraq. We will occupy until there is an economic collapse that surpasses that of the Great Depression, I am afraid. I have become quite cynical when I think of all this, and what I personally am able to do about it.
