If you have been following up on the voting issues from the elections, things are getting fishier and fishier. There were incredible over counts - up to 1160% in one Cuyahoga County Precinct. There were under counts and there were vote reversals (i.e. 70% voters registered as Democrat but 70% vote for Bush). Randi Rhodes is on this like a cat on a rat - check out her sources for today's show and her analysis of Cuyahoga County Precincts.
Yet another letter requesting an immediate investigation has gone to the Government Accounting Office. This one is signed by Conyers, Nadler, Wexler, Scott, Watt, and Holt
Unfortunately, because many of the electronic voting areas did not have paper trails, even dramatic differences over and under counts will likely not have standing in court.
All of the "irregularities" may not change the outcome of the election, but bringing them to light and keeping them in the public eye, will hopefully force more controls (and fewer possibilities of fraud) in future elections.
There are many issues needing attention right now, and I know folks are spread thin, but the voting problems must be addressed and made public. If not, then any future possibility of public participation in the leadership of our communities and nation, any citizen voice in the decision making process, is effectively silenced. This must not happen.
