Disappearing Privacy Rights

Just when you thought that surveillance couldn't get any more invasive along comes the Pentagon with a new plan - TIAS (Total Information Awareness System). This is a data miner which collects both personal commercial data and email and internet data on individuals. The SanFransico Chronicle ran the first report (I think). Here's the link to the article Pentagon plans cyber surveillance.

Guess we could have expected this if you have looked at either the Nuclear Posture Review info or the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). Both of these feature advanced intelligence components. Interesting that the Defense Department is targeting US citizens with TIA. If you know Spanish, that means aunt - wonder if there is any meaning in that. Instead of Bigh Brother we get Big Aunt? Maybe eavesdropping on "gossip" - well a bit sexist, but not beyond that male bastion the Pentagon. So what counts as Big Brother? Rumsfeld will have to duke it out with Ashcroft and Tenet for that one I guess.

Here's the link to the "SS Office" "IAO" programs and no I have no ideas what the initials stand for (of course it would be appropriately named the "SS" office) obviously the boys aren't too original.
SS Office IAO Progrmas on TIA. Bet this link disappears in a hurry if so, try this link - My TIA Mirror.

If you want a jolt, take a look at the home page while you are there (those of you into secret societies arcana IAO home page.

NUTS!!!
