Hijacking?
For those of you interested in the "Christian" thread in this journal, I came across an interesting article by James Heflin (4/17/03 Valley Advocate) Wonder-working power. In it Heflin details the transformation of the leadership of the Southern Baptist Convention (and the institutions they control).
This piece is interesting in relationship to the widely noticed themes of President Bush, but is also an interesting historical piece about political process.

Thanks for that link Rowan. This is an excellent article for understanding the policy/agenda behind the Bush government's actions. While it is difficult at times to connect the dots, or even to keep up with all the different strands of actions taken (loss of civil liberties/social policy cuts/war and threats of war) this is one "take" that serves to unite the choices being made by this government under a definite plan of action. If the American public can begin to fully understand the belief systems that inform those decisions made, then they can decide for themselves if this reflects their own personal beliefs or not - until then, it just looks like many separate areas that need attention, and most people feel overwhelmed. Or else argue from a place of not being fully informed of the issues...
