Host Switch Update

The host switch is underway, and I think completed at least for this "domain." Sorry if there was any craziness with your comment posting. I had some comments coming in from the domain under the old host, and some coming in under the same domain on the new host. I am double checking my comment notifications and will add any comments I captured that did not show up.

The process of host switching is a kind of mystical, though not pleasant, process. The pointers to the site have to "propagate" globally (all over the world). It is not an instantaneous process and while it is happening the site actually exists in multiple locations at once. Once it has finished propagating, then the site only exists in one location again.

Just as a heads up. Once I recover from this little adventure and get a backup secured and working, I will be upgrading to the latest version of Moveable Type - the software used to manage this site. This will provide improved spam protection.

Another added feature will be the ability to choose to be notified of comments added to specific articles. If there is a discussion you are particularly interested in, you can choose to be notified when someone posts a new comment to the discussion.

On the down side, spell checking of comments will be lost - at least temporarily. I haven't been able to get that to work with the new version of the software.
