London Bombing Update
Thus far, over 50 are dead and 700 injured in the blasts that rocked London's transit system yesterday. However, virtually nothing is known at this point about the perpetrators of the bombings. Early reports that "The Secret Organisation of al-Qaida in Europe" was behind the bombings have been dismissed as a hoax. In short, despite statements this was an al Qaeda type attack, no one knew it was being planned, and no one knows who is responsible.
The most complete reports on the events that I have found is posted at the BBC site.
Three explosions occurred in the subway system - Russell Square, Kings Cross, and Edgeware Road - and one on a double-decker bus. At least one of the bombs was a package apparently detonated by a timing device.
The press and British authorities are pointing to the bombings being timed to coincide with the G8 summit. However, that seems pure speculation since they don't even know who did it.
The fact is, that at this point there is little that has been released other than the explosions themselves. Even the full scope of the damage to London's subway station is not known.

I doubt this was Al-Qaeda. If they had done it, their selections would have been more specific. The twin towers here represent the power of the USA. The transportation systems of London represent alternative transportation, nothing more. If Al-Qaeda were to attack Britain, it would be somewhere significant that would impact the economy of Britain. Plus, Al-Qaeda would do much more damage.
As for who did do this and why, who was on the subways? What motive could someone have for attacking the subway system?
I don't think we should presume anything until the investigation gives better clues.
