Serious Windows Bug Patch

This out from the BBC - Official warning on Windows bugs

The US Department of Homeland Security has urged Windows users to install the latest patches from Microsoft as quickly as possible.

In particular it warned about one bug fixed in the latest batch of security updates that, if exploited, could put a PC under the control of an attacker

The patch is available from http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx which will scan your system, then recommend update patches.

Possibly because I drive a Mac, I am not plagued with these problems (yet). Most hacker types want to mass mail something or destroy or disrupt something on a large scale, so they don't bother with the 4% of users who choose Apple products. Furthermore, how do I know Microsoft Patches do not carry updated software allowing Homeland Security even greater access to my private life, etc., of course, I have no guarantee Mozilla hasn't made the same Fautian deal Microsoft might have made...
