Steven Irwin Dead At 44

I am not big on "personalities" and "stars," but Steven Irwin was special. While he was wild, entertaining, and supercharged, his love of animals and passion for saving them showed through all the time. In my opinion, he was the only person with a "wild animal" show who exhibited this love and passion. He truly cared, and it seemed that generally the species he handled knew that as well. His overriding goal in the show and his interviews was to bring wild animals into the hearts of people. He felt that if that heart connection was not made that the animals and the earth was lost.

Irwin died in a freak accident caused by a stingray barb that hit his heart. The animals, and the earth, have lost a powerful advocate.
