Welcome to 2007
Dear Uncommon Thought Community,
I send you wishes for the best in 2007. May you each have the company of good friends, good health, prosperity in all areas of your life, and the courage of your convictions.
I can't express how much support I feel knowing there are people such as yourselves - of good heart, clear vision, passion, and strong voice - "out there." When I feel most alone and depressed over the state of our world, the knowledge that there are many of us joined in this effort the make the world a better place gives me hope. People who deeply care about the same things that I do. People making the ongoing effort to stay informed and share both the reality of our current situation and a vision of a better world.
Those of you that I have come to know and consider now as friends, are a very special group. You care, you learn, you share, and you act. You truly do have the courage of your convictions. You are willing to change your lives and be role models and supporters of others on the path. You are willing to take unpopular positions and continue to fight for liberty, justice, and a better world. While I am sure that each of us has been called many names and labeled as unpatriotic (and worse), I know that you are patriots in the truest sense of the word. I honor your courage, your integrity, and your compassion.
While there has been a change of wind recently, I am not expecting huge shifts out of a Democrat controlled congress. I do believe there will be some gains. I hope that there are major changes of course. Realistically (or perhaps pessimistically) I don't expect the Dems to have the courage of their convictions. I would like nothing better than to be proven wrong on this.
Regardless, I will try my best to make Uncommon Thought worthy of your time and effort. I firmly believe that we still have a world to save, and in that effort the skills and loves and vision of each of you is critically important.
May 2007 truly be a New year.
Sincerely,
Rowan Wolf
