Phone Fraud Alert

There is a phone fraud that is going around where someone calls and says they are from your phone company, and he is testing your line. He (or she) gives instructions that in order to complete the test you should press 90# on your phone and then hang up.

This code actually forwards your phone. It gives them full access to your phone line - for example placing long distance calls.

Do not cooperate and contact your phone company.

Thanks to Bill for passing this information along.

Several people have since told me that it only applies to commercial phone lines. According to Snopes on line that is suppose to be the case. Just wanted to clear that up.

Seen this one before. Best thing to do is to assign a password to all accounts, especially if you are a business owner and have employees that might fall for this (normally how it is done).
