Pet food contamination - Update

The most recent information on the contamination of pet and animal food is coming from some research done by scientists at the University of Guelph in Ontario Canada. Their tests indicate that the combination of melamine and cyanuric acid, when combined with the acidic environment of the urinary tract create crystal found in the kidneys of some of the dead cats. This is a significant finding as neither of those compounds seem to be in significant enough amounts to cause the damage and death that has been seen.

The scientists report that there is other "stuff" that they have yet to identify in their studies.

The current list of recalled foods can be found at the FDA Recall List.
