Stand Up For Peace and Justice
The week of September 22nd - September 29th will be full of activities across the country calling for peace in Iraq and bringing the U.S. troops home. Check with your local Peace and Anti-war organizations for specific actions happening in your area. There will be events happening throughout the Fall, but the culmination for this week is September 29, 2007 when peace rallies and marches are happening across the country.
For those of you in and around Portland, Oregon ....
Sat Sept 29 Mobilization Against War & Occupation of Iraq
The march will start at 11 am from the Northwest Park Blocks (NW Flanders/Park downtown). It will then go down Broadway through downtown and end with a rally at the World Trade Center. This is a permitted, family-friendly event so everyone--from those in strollers and barely walking to those with walkers and wheelchairs-- can participate.
If you would like to volunteer to support this event, call email Dan at the Peace and Justice Works office (503) 236-3065 iraq@pjw.info

At times I have said "You can march until your feet bleed, but nobody cares and, it doesn't make a bit of difference."
However I have been marching since the late 60's after my return from Viet Nam and I honestly do think it makes a difference. I have been marching against the Iraq conflict before we invaded.
I will be there on Saturday and looking for my old friends a Veterans for Peace and hope to see lots of faces.
Further I am marching for the Monks and nuns in Burma.
