Fox "News"

Most folks who read Uncommon Thought already know that Fox News is quite short on "news." Now we have confirmation from Brian Wilson, a FNC Vice President and Washington Bureau Chief. At a presentation before student journalists at Texas Tech, Wilson responded to a question from the audience regarding Bill O'Reilly stating:

Bill O'Reilly is not a journalist; it is an opinion-based program... I think we get unfairly smeared because of Bill O'Reilly, and it has a huge following.

I don't agree with half of what O'Reilly says, but that is what characterizes Fox News."

Indeed "opinion" (some go so far as propaganda at times) is indeed what populates the Fox News Channel lineup. While Wilson went on to argue that Murdoch does not call him to shape the news, somebody is certainly providing consistent direction for the channel. If a VP and Bureau Chief has no input or control on programming, then who the heck does?

Keith Olbermann brought up WIlson's remarks in relationship to the latest O'Reilly flap over his claims regarding "gay propaganda."
