Need for Support and A Watchful Eye

Mike Hastie, a member of Veterans for Peace, and a Bronze Star Army Medic from the Vietnam War, was arrested in November for protesting at a recruiting station in Tacoma, Washington. Everyone thought that the charges would be dropped, but they haven't been and he has been re-charged with an upcoming court date..

Mike could use a kind word from friends and friendly strangers alike. His willingness to stand his ground for peace has landed him in trouble and that is a damned lonely place to be. Please drop him a supportive note at hastiemike@earthlink.net.

It seems a shame that this country has devolved to a state where protest against an unconscionable war is disallowed.

I wish you the best in overcoming these charges. It is courageous to stand up for your beliefs (something rarely done these days), and beyond difficult to suffer punitively for doing something you believe is right--I've experienced that myself.

Stay brave, focused and good luck!
