Another Earth Day

Another Earth Day rolls around and the planet is heading towards environmental catastrophe. Seems like one day a year is not enough to counter 364 days a year of destruction. Earth ... that ungrateful snob .. just doesn't recognize the wholeheartedness of our regard. Must say I am a bit despondent over the state of the planet. I know, that more people are waking up, but they are also still hypnotized by the propaganda - like biofuels and a "sustainability" that allows increasing industrial and consumer growth every year.

Perhaps on this Earth Day we should encourage thought and meditation. Perhaps we should focus on sending healing energy to our home. Perhap[s we should visualize a planet that is lush and healthy and where the human rodents really do love their Mother.

It is pretty clear that there needs to be a change of heart and mind, because changing direction seems impossible without it.

So this Earth Day, let's encourage people to connect to the earth beneath their feet (under the cement); the wind upon their faces, and the moss growing through the crack in the sidewalk. Let's encourage people to look for those examples of the unrelenting will towards life that are all around us.

As long as Corporations are running Washington D.C. all that will happen are more ads telling everybody how green they(politicians and corporations) are.

Albert Einstein said it best:
Problems cannot be solved by the level of awareness that created them.

CASE IN POINT:
Earth Day's Shame: Eco-Barbie

When I first saw the press release about a "green" Mattel collection of accessories called Barbie BCause, I thought it was an April Fool's joke. Mattel's new Barbie line will be released "just in time to celebrate Earth Day in style." Which is pretty ironic, really, given that Barbie dolls themselves are made out of plastic and are packaged in even more plastic. And not the kind of plastic you can throw in the recycling bin, either.

Learn more about Mattel's attempt at greenwashing by reading the rest of this post in Mother Jones's environmental blog, The Blue Marble.

I'm getting a huge kick out of Nancy and Newt on a park bench, "Sometimes life is like a box of chocolates!"

I told someone yesterday a quote I have read somewhere that points out: When the earth dies, so will we.
He said, "No, they will just find another planet to exploit." (As if there is such a place!) And then commented that this death would not happen in our lifetime, but maybe in our children's lifetimes.

Christians believe that God will provide them with a new heaven and earth. So this one doesn't matter.
I think they are missing the point. Why would God allow destroyers of this earth an opportunity to destroy another?

"God" is species and culture specific. We create "God," so we can put whatever words and goals in "She/He/It's" mouth we need to rationalize whatever we need to tell ourselves we are free of responsibility and accountability, but hey, maybe someday a Lemming will fly.... Sorry Virginia, 34th Street is closed! We're on our own!

That was aimed at "Christians," not at you Shawna.

...and I acknowledge it is a line from the British version of "Cracker," staring Robbie Coltrane, an episode line with-which he is taking a jumper down from a roof-top. Memory is faulty, but maybe the jumper jumped anyway....

...but then I got a Bachelors in English so I can misspell everything anyway I want and a Masters in Religion (Divinity) so I can treat "God" as the creature Anthropologists recognize as a fabrication of human imagination and need she/he/it (SHIT) to be. My opinion: There is no hope humans like any other Blight will be stopped from spreading their "SHIT" throughout the Universe until all the damage possible is done...!

It's all in the fine print.
